Open Space Gallery - Melbourne Only

Do you need a gallery space where you can exhibit your artworks cost-effectively? At Eckersley’s Open Space Gallery, located within the Melbourne city store, we have a fantastic open space available for rent throughout the year as part of our commitment to supporting up-and-coming artists.

The Gallery is large and spacious, with a hanging system for two-dimensional works and a huge floor space for sculptures or installations.

All money raised from the sale of your artworks will remain in your hands. Eckersley's does not take commission on sales.

You can rent the Gallery for solo or group exhibitions, for two to four weeks at a time. To apply, complete a written proposal and email it to melbourne@eckersleys.com.au. See below for instructions.

The Gallery is open seven days a week (excluding Public Holidays) during the following hours:

Monday to Friday:            9.00am – 6.00pm
Saturday:                        10.00am – 4.00pm
Sunday:                          12.00pm – 4.00pm

Open Space Gallery Application

Please read through the following guide before completing your proposal.

Remember, we're looking for dedicated artists. Your proposal should demonstrate consideration of these criteria:

• A unified body of work
• Successful use of the Open Space Gallery
• Appropriate promotional material
• Engagement with ideas
• Extension of the definition and understanding of the visual arts

Written Proposal

Please include the following details in your proposal:

• Name
• Address
• Contact number
• Exhibition title
• Preferred dates
• Description and concept of your exhibition
• Benefits for the exhibitor and for Eckersley's customers
• How will the work be installed in the gallery space? What are your ideas for the exhibition design?
• What strategies will you use to promote the exhibition?

Please attach a CV of no more than two pages and a list of each piece of artwork you will be exhibiting. The list should contain a description of the materials and techniques used as well as the dates of the artwork.


Portfolio of Exhibiting Works

You’ll need to provide up to 10 slides/photos for solo exhibition applications or 16 slides/photos for group exhibition applications.

The slides/photos should show examples of your current work proposed for the exhibition. You may like to include a couple of examples of past works. Please ensure that slides/photos are clearly numbered and labelled with your name.

Your slides/photos should be of good quality, as they are often considered to be an indicator of professionalism. Please do not send originals, as the Eckersley’s Open Space Gallery does not take responsibility for loss or damage.


Dates for Submission

Applications should be submitted at least three months prior to the preferred date of the exhibition.
