Art Spectrum Colourfix Original Primer is a fine-tooth acrylic primer designed to prepare surfaces for pastel, drawing and mixed media techniques. The Art Spectrum Colourfix Original Primer creates a durable, textured ground that allows artists to build layers of colour while maintaining strong pigment adhesion.
Formulated as a quick-drying acrylic primer, Art Spectrum Colourfix Original Primer bonds strongly to a wide range of clean, dry surfaces. It can be applied to paper, canvas, card, timber, ceramic, glass, plastic, metal and board, making it a versatile option for studio work, experimental techniques and mixed media applications. For paper surfaces, a weight of 300gsm or heavier is recommended for best results.
Art Spectrum Colourfix Original Primer can be applied directly from the container using brushes, rollers, sponges or other painting tools. Once dry, the primer provides a consistent fine tooth surface ideal for pastel, charcoal, pencil and other dry media, while also supporting layered mixed media techniques. The primer can also be used as a collage adhesive or as a base layer for creative art and craft projects.
The Colourfix Primer range is available in multiple colours that can be intermixed or tinted using Art Spectrum Inks or Gouache to create custom shades. The white primer provides a bright, neutral base suitable for a wide range of artistic styles and applications. Using the Clear Colourfix Primer will allow any underlying colours or natural shades of your surface to remain visible while still giving extra tooth for painting. These primers are a great way to turn any surface into a 'canvas' for you to paint and get creative on! All Colourfix Primers are also intermixable with one another.
