Artist Statement:
While exploring an AI image generator, I asked it to create a simple field of cows. What it gave me instead was a cow adrift in the sky — a glitch, a mistake, yet oddly serene. That fractured moment became the seed for this painting. Elevation reflects on the quiet absurdities that arise when technology mimics nature — not with understanding, but approximation. In this imagined landscape, the organic and artificial blur, inviting us to question where truth ends and invention begins.
Artist Bio:
Hayley Wellins is an emerging Australian artist based in Townsville, Queensland. Currently studying to become a veterinarian, she draws inspiration from the serene rural landscapes and animals she encounters through her work and studies.
Specialising in oil painting, Hayley’s work often depicts farmyards, open country, and—most importantly—animals, while adding her own unique twist to each piece. Her paintings blend an authentic understanding of rural life with an eye for light, texture, and detail, inviting viewers to connect with the quiet beauty of Australia’s agricultural heartland.
