Lara Niven - My Sweet

Artwork Description:

This drawing captures a single candy heart in pencil realism, but this candy is different, it’s broken. I created this piece to symbolise that that love is fragile, as fragile as a tiny piece of candy, and that something beautiful can be broken.

My goal with this piece was to make an ordinary item, less ordinary. I invite the viewer to look closer at the imperfections on the surface, the chips in the colour, the texture of the pencil on paper mimicking the imperfect texture of the candy heart.
