Gang Gang Cockatoo Watercolour Workshop with Ferie Sadeghi
About this event
Gang Gang Cockatoo is a native Australian bird. Capture the beauty of this adult male with his striking, bright red, wispy crest and head in your painting. You will create this beautiful bird with vibrant artist-quality Winsor & Newton watercolour paints and the artist-quality Fabriano paper.
At first your instructor will teach you the three basic watercolour techniques, tips and tricks. Then we will begin to create a soft background with some gum flowers and leaves using wet on wet technique. Next we will focus on the bird, which is our focal point. You will learn how to paint the feathers with different shades of colours and create that wispy red crest.
This course is designed for beginners and intermediate learners.
No drawing skills required. You will transfer the bird outline onto the Fabriano Artistico 100% cotton, cold-press paper using a transfer paper. This easy process will allow you to focus fully on the painting.
Don’t worry if you’re new to watercolour painting. Your award-winning art instructor will guide you step by step to finish your painting. The more advanced participants will strengthen their watercolour skills, and they will take home lots of creative ideas and a beautiful painting to hang on the wall.
Artistic Facilitator: Ferie Sadeghi
Ferie started her career as an interior architect and later as a graphic designer. Her background as a designer has given her strength in drawing, composition, perspective, and colour coordination. She loves the softness and the moodiness of watercolour; lately, she is also exploring other mediums like acrylic paint and alcohol inks.
She exhibits her artworks regularly throughout the year. Recent awards are:
- a Highly Commended in the 2022 WSQ Annual Exhibition
- a First Prize in the 2020 The Australian Watercolour Muster
- a Third Prize in the 2019 EKKA exhibition
- a First Prize in the 2024 Brookfield Art Show
