To ink up a roller for use with a gel plate or linoleum block, start by preparing a clean workspace. Select the appropriate ink for your project, pouring a small amount onto a flat, non-porous surface. Roll the brayer back and forth over the ink, ensuring it is evenly coated with a thin layer of ink. For gel plates, roll the inked brayer over the plate with light, even pressure, covering the entire surface uniformly. For linoleum blocks, roll the brayer over the carved block, applying even pressure to transfer the ink to the raised areas.
