Marble Paper Effect Tealight Lamp

18 August 2018

Marbling is a popular yet simple technique to decorate Papers! These papers can then be used to create objects or decorate journal covers, make cards, or placed in your scrapbooking projects. The possibilities are endless!

How to do it

  1. Fill the aluminium foil tray (not available online) with water until it is approximately a quarter full.
  2. Drip the Copic refill ink using the colours of your choice into the water. By experimenting dripping ink colours on top of each other, you can achieve varied effects. Also adding in drips of the Copic colourless blender will “remove” colour creating even more varied effects.
  3. Check the watercolour paper is smaller in size than the tray and if necessary cut down to size.
  4. Take your watercolour paper and immerse the side face down into the water so it picks up the ink. You want the paper wet to pick up the colour but not saturated.
  5. Carefully and slowly remove the paper ensuring the drips of water and ink do not run or bleed into each other.
  6. Lay flat on paper towels until dry. Once the paper is dry you can repeat the process to create multiple layered effects.
  7. Once dry, apply Xpress It high tack double sided tape to the inside edge of the paper and secure the two ends together to form a cylinder. Lightly spray the paper with a matt varnish spray to repel dust.
  8. Take a battery operated tealight and place inside the cylinder. Enjoy! (Do not use a naked flame)
