Create your very own rainbow wall hanging or mobile using everyday household items! This colourful and creative project is a great activity for young and old and offers you ways to upcycle cardboard boxes and coat hangers to turn them into a beautiful home décor piece friends and family are sure to love.
What you will need
- Cardboard (an old box will work fine!)
- STAEDTLER Triplus Colour Fibre Tip Pens
- A pencil
- Scissors
- Twine or string
- A coat hanger
- A hole punch or punch pliers
How to do it
- Print this rainbow template and cut it out, ready to act as your stencil.
- Trace the rainbow shape onto your cardboard using a pencil – this example uses 7 rainbows in total but you can mix it up if you like.
- Colour in your rainbows using STAEDTLER Triplus Colour Fibre Tip Pens. Experiment with different colour variants to keep your final wall hanging exciting and fun! We recommend using 4 colours per rainbow.
- After you’ve finished colouring your rainbows how you like, cut the shapes out from the cardboard.
- Make a hole at the top of the rainbow, in the centre of the arch, using your holepunch or punch pliers.
- Cut one piece of string for each rainbow you have made, varying the lengths of string for each rainbow.
- Attach the rainbows to your coat hanger, threading one end of the string through your rainbow and tying the other end to the coat hanger.
- Hang up your new colourful rainbow wall hanging and enjoy!
