Liquitex Super Heavy Gesso Primer is a structured, titanium white acrylic ground for preparing your painting surface. The structure of this gesso allows artists to create a textured finish to their surface that carries through to the artwork. This gesso will give maximum tooth to your surface for painting with oils and acrylics or drawing with graphite, oil pastel, and more.
This gesso provides a bright white base for your artworks that also has 3D texture, giving the perfect base for thick, sculptural art pieces. This Liquitex Super Heavy Gesso is fully intermixable with Liquitex products, and a custom tint can be created by adding acrylic paint –Soft Body Acrylics will provide optimal consistency for this. The gesso will stiffen your canvas and provide excellent tooth for colour adhesion.
To use, apply straight from the container with a brush or palette knife. The gesso can also be thinned with Liquitex Gesso for a less structured finish. Before applying the gesso, sand down hard or shiny surfaces, and make sure to leave the gesso to dry for at least 24 hours before beginning your painting.
