Matisse Acrylic Painting Medium is a pure acrylic binder used in formulating Matisse Colours and acts as the principal paint "dilutant" when not using water. Water can be use to dilute acrylic paint however more than 3% water to acrylic paint will reduce the colour strength and can leave the colour looking washed or muddy.
Acrylic Painting Medium is best used in addition with equal parts water to ensure the Matisse Colours remain waterfast when they are reduced for glazing or any other purpose where water is added to the paint.
Acrylic Painting Medium with its low sheen and good adhesion makes it a suitable transparent primer or surface conditioner for canvas, paper or board.
