Permaset Puff Paste is a printing medium that is used to achieve a 3D effect on fabric. It can enhance designs and provides a raised, textured feel to the finished print. It can be mixed with Permaset Screen Printing Inks and will print flat, then as the medium cures it will puff up to give an interesting 3D matt effect . Permaset Puff Paste has a soft textured feel and is wash and dry-clean resistant.

Permaset Puff Paste is ideal for those people who want to add volume and texture and more interest to their fabric designs (such as custom t-shirt designs). Use to highlight a few elements in your design to really make them pop or bolder. Follow the same printing process when using Permaset Puff Paste but bear in mind you may need to lay down a little more ink to get a good 3D effect. A standard two pulls of the squeegee are required when printing. The first penetrates and covers the fabric, while the second levels the print. Additionally a screen mesh of 32T-43T is usually suitable for most applications. Make sure to throughly mix your ink and Permaset Puff Paste (Note: The more puff paste you add to the ink, the puffier the design).

Permaset Puff Paste is best used for bold simple designs as intricate details can be lost as it puffs up during the curing process. Once printing is complete allow the fabric to air dry for 15 minutes. Once Permaset Puff Paste is dry, cure in an oven or heat gun for 4-5 minutes at 160°. Curing at too low temperatures can result in an inadequate cure (little to no rise of the print) while curing at too high temperatures can result in poor adhesion to the fabric or the puffing effect collapsing. Prior to attempting any print run, it is advisable to experiment with a test piece prior to printing your actual, final piece.
