Jacquard Solarfast Starter Kit

The Jacquard Solarfast Starter Kit is an easy and exciting introduction to sun-powered printmaking for artists and curious creatives. Using light sensitive dyes that react to sunlight, the Jacquard SolarFast Sun Powered Starter Kit allows you to create detailed photographic prints, bold shadow designs and expressive artworks on fabric and paper using nothing more than UV light.

Jacquard Solarfast dyes only develop colour when exposed to sunlight, becoming permanent once washed. This makes the process simple, safe and highly engaging, with no heat setting, chemical fixing or steaming required. The dyes leave fabric completely soft to the touch and create a flat, zero relief finish on paper, making Jacquard Solarfast ideal for mixed media work.

With the Jacquard Solarfast Starter Kit, you can create photograms, photographic prints and painterly effects by placing objects, transparencies or folded materials onto a coated surface. Leaves, lace, tools, toys, film negatives or even shadows can all be used to block light and form images in minutes. It can also be used for painting, tie dye, screen printing, stamping and batik techniques.

This kit is odourless and safe for children, making it suitable for classrooms, workshops and home studios. It can print up to approx. 8 average-size T-shirts or several dozen paper prints, depending on size and coverage.

How it works:
Apply Jacquard SolarFast dye to fabric or heavy artist paper using a brush, sponge, brayer or squeegee. While the surface is still damp, expose it to direct sunlight. The colour develops as the light hits the dye. Once exposure is complete, wash the print with Jacquard Solarfast Wash to remove excess dye and reveal a permanent, lightfast image.
