DMC Embroidery Stranded Cotton Threads are made from 100% cotton in France. These premium quality threads contain six individual strands 8 metres long that have been double mercerized. This process results in strong and soft cotton strands with a beautiful sheen. Due to this process the threads will also consistently be the same even depth of colour.
The DMC Embroidery Stranded Cotton Threads also known as skeins can easily be separated and stitched with. To separate the cotton strands, take your skein (coiled thread) and find the tail that sticks out. Pull the tail out from the skein slowly until you have a 45cm length of thread and cut it off. If you would like to separate the thread into individual strands, pull one strand up and out slowly until it is fully separated from the others.
Use varying amounts of strands in ideal for shading in your embroidery work or when using different mesh sizes in cross stitch. DMC Embroidery Stranded Cotton Threads can be used to stitch lettering, doodles, create 3dimensional art, breathe new life into old clothes, embellish pillows, tote bags, create craft flowers, bag charms or even jewellery!
