Screen printing is a stenciling method where your design is printed by pressing inks through a stencil onto a mesh screen directly onto the material. A squeegee is often used to push the ink through the stencil. One stencil is required per colour as each one will need to be lined up and screen printed on top of the other. Once you have completed your layers, the screen print is then put through a large dryer to cure the inks.
A great thing about screen printing is that you can do it with more than just shirts. Other fabric items can also be screen printed, such as jackets, flags, bags and banners. There is so much that can be customised, allowing you to be as creative as you want.
Remember, there is much more to screen printing ink than just colour. There are different sorts of inks that can be used to create different effects on your screen print like texturised inks or puff inks.
