GOLDEN Pastel Ground is a textured acrylic primer designed to prepare your surface for a variety of media where a coarse tooth is desired! It’s a versatile option that makes a great addition to any artist’s studio.
Create a coarse toothy gritty ground for chalk and oil pastels, graphite and coloured pencils, charcoal, and acrylic paint with GOLDEN Pastel Ground. It’s a great choice for mixed media artists as it’s also compatible with acrylic mediums, gels, and paints. Suitable for use on paper, canvas, and wood, this ground helps you turn a variety of objects into painting and drawing surfaces!
To use GOLDEN Pastel Ground, mix with 20-40% water to thin the ground to your desired consistency. Note that due to the weight of the solids in GOLDEN Pastel Ground, you should only mix as much as you require for a single day’s work, as the solids will settle quickly and become difficult to mix again.
GOLDEN Pastel Ground can be used as a transparent gesso that will dry to a whitish translucency or applied over GOLDEN gesso to add texture. You can also mix in acrylic paint to achieve a tinted ground. Apply with a brush, roller, palette knife, or as a spray to your surface – applying as many coats as necessary to achieve your desired tooth. Allow to dry completely before beginning your artwork.
