Hollyhock Watercolour Workshop

Hollyhock Watercolour Workshop with Ferie Sadeghi

About this event

Hollyhocks, with their predominant stems of brightly coloured, stand tall amongst the rest of the garden from spring to summer.

In this workshop you will learn how to mix the colours on the paper to create a multicolored background. This watercolour technique is called wet-on-wet. Then we use wet-on-dry technique to paint flower heads. By using darker shades of pink we paint the shadows to make the flower heads three-dimensional. We will mix the blue and yellow paint to make green for painting the stems and leaves.

This workshop is suitable for beginners and intermediate level. We will use artist quality Winsor & Newton watercolour paint for this workshop.

Artistic Facilitaor: Ferie Sadeghi

Ferie started her career as an interior architect and later as a graphic designer. Her background as a designer has given her strength in drawings, composition, perspective and colour coordination. She loves the softness and the moodiness of the watercolour; lately she is also exploring other mediums like acrylic paint and alcohol inks.

She exhibits her artworks regularly throughout the year. Recent awards are:

  • a Highly Commended in the 2022 WSQ Annual Exhibition,
