Easter Egg Decorating with Derwent Inktense Paint Pans

1 March 2023

Have some creative fun with this egg-cellent & easy Easter Project using Derwent Inktense Paint Pans!

  • Derwent Inktense Paint Pan Palette Set
  • Derwent Watercolour Brushes (Size 1 & 2)
  • Pencils
  • Large egg
  • Needle or skewer
  • Paper Towel

1. Make a small hole with a needle at the top of the egg and a larger hole with a darning needle at the bottom of the egg. Use the needle to break the egg up inside. Hold the egg over a bowl and blow through the smaller hole on the top. If it’s too hard to blow the egg out, you can enlarge the hole at the bottom with a skewer. Rinse the egg and let it dry on paper towel.

2. Once the egg is dry, draw your design on your egg. Don’t press too hard in case the egg breaks. You can include some hand lettering for a contemporary feel.

3. For a background colour, you can blend a bit of ink with water to create a light wash. Allow each layer to dry before applying more colour.

4. Add the next layer of detail and hand lettering using brighter, bolder colours.

5. Once you are finished and your artwork is dry, you can thread cotton through your egg and hang it up.
