Jacquard Dye-Na-Flow (DNF) is a highly transparent, free flowing and fluid fabric paint that acts like a dye. Despite its transparency the colours in the Jacquard Dye-Na-Flow paint range are highly pigmented and vibrant. They are easy to use, requiring no chemicals or special processes. Originally formulated to be permanent on all fabrics, it may also be used on wood, paper, canvas, leather and much more.
When used on fabric it does not leave a hardened surface and cannot be felt as it saturates and absorbs into the fabric fibres. Colours in the range are intermixable to produce an endless colour palette.
Jacquard Dye-Na-Flow is a water-based paint that can be thinned with water by up to 20% (when used with fabrics). Suitable for most untreated fabrics whether natural or synthetic, it is especially good on light coloured and sheer fabrics, making it ideal for silk painting and batik techniques. You can even sprinkle salt on wet Dyn-Na-Flow to create interesting patterns and starburst effects on your fabric as the salt crystals soak up the colour as it dries! Once the paint is dry, the salt can be removed by brushing it off.
Ensure your fabric has been pre-washed before applying. You can apply Jacquard Dye-Na-Flow with a brush, squirt, flick or sponge the paint onto fabric to create more watercolour, painterly effects. Try experimenting to see what you can create. Once the decorated fabric is dry, heat set the Jacquard Dye-Na-Flow colour with a dry iron for at least 30 seconds using the highest temperature setting for the fabric. Once heat set, Jacquard Dye-Na-Flow is permanent on most fabrics and suitable for washing or dry cleaning.
Jacquard Dye-Na-Flow paint can also be used on absorbent surfaces such as paper, leather and wood. When used on untreated wood, Jacquard Dye-Na-Flow paint preserves the wood grain and natural look due to the paints transparency but they are more durable and lightfast than most dye-based stains. If using on wood outdoors, apply a coat of varnish for added durability. For papers its works beautifully on watercolour papers, illustration board, rice paper and even Yupo. Jacquard Dye-Na-Flow paint can be combined with pen, ink or pencils drawings in mixed media artwork. You can even use it to hand colour photographs! Why not try adding it to wet plaster as a colourant or use as a stain to dried pieces. Jacquard Dye-Na-Flow paint is compatible with airbrush systems straight from the jar. You can have so much fun creating with Jacquard Dye-Na-Flow paints.
Jacquard Dye-Na-Flow paints are also intermixable with Lumerie paints for pearlescent colour variations, Neopaque and Texile colour.
