The advantage of these brushes is that they minimise the chances of getting paint under your stencil due to the still flat bristles. These brushes come in a range of sizes depending on the surface you want to cover.
They are used in a straight up and down motion rather than a side to side motion, tapping the paint onto the surface. When dipping your brush into the paint you only need to coat the ends, no need to dip the brush further down into the paint as these are designed to apply paint from the tip.
