GAC 800 is a pouring medium that mixes well with colour and dries to a smooth, glossy surface. The medium is also low crazing, resulting in smooth drying pour art when used correctly.
A 100% acrylic polymer medium, GAC 800 can be added to acrylic paints to help them dry with a smooth, even film, good gloss and flexibility, and with moderate clarity. It is fully compatible with GOLDEN paints and mediums.
To use as a pouring medium, simply pour your GAC 800 into a cup, then add your colour up to 10% (higher ratios can adversely affect GAC 800’s craze-resistance). Often 1-5% addition of colour can be sufficient for pour art, so add the colour slowly. Stir slowly to combine, allowing any bubbles to dissipate before you begin to pour. For best results, seal your surface with a gloss medium before applying your GAC 800/paint mixture.
In addition to pouring, GAC 800 is also useful to promote adhesion to chalky surfaces such as plaster and weathered paint. For this application, first spray or brush water onto the surface to pre-wet it. Then mix your GAC 800 with 20-40% water and brush on the surface. Allow to cure and add an additional coat of undiluted GAC 800 once dry if required.
Clean your tools and surfaces with soapy water immediately after use.
