You will need:
- Pebeo Gedeo Moulding Alginate
- Pebeo Gedeo Resin Plaster
- 1L Plastic measuring jug
- 2L Plastic container
- Mixing Bowl
- Spatula
- Blunt butter knife
- Pebeo Studio Acrylic Paints
Steps:
- Add 1L of water to Pebeo Alginate Powder and mix quickly. (Don't worry about lumps; they won't make any difference to the end result.)
- Pour the mixture into the container.
- Place your hand into the Alginate mixture, get into a comfortable position, and wait for 10 minutes.
- Wiggle your hand to allow some air to circulate and then carefully remove your hand.
- Measure 333ml of water into a 1L plastic jug.
- Sprinkle Pebeo Gedeo Resin Plaster evenly over the water, adding it little by little.
- Tap the jug gently to help air bubbles escape to the surface, then let the plaster sit for 1 minute.
- Mix the plaster mixture very gently with a spatula, keeping the mixture smooth and avoiding the creation of air bubbles (tap the jug again to remove any remaining bubbles).
- Pour the plaster slowly into the Alginate mould; when the mould is half-filled, pause and tap the plaster container to ensure an even distribution. Fill the mould with plaster to the top (for a sturdy base, keep pouring to the top of the container).
- Wait for 1 hour for the resin plaster to set.
- Use a blunt butter knife to help separate the mould from the container (you may need to create a cut at the bottom of the container to let air in).
- Slowly cut a clean, vertical line down each side of the mould, making sure to check as you go.
- Remove the mould from the plaster by gently pulling it upwards (the mould should come off in 2 clean pieces).
- Add some colour to your plaster hand with Pebeo Studio acrylic paints!
If you wish to make another cast, put the 2 pieces back together as cleanly as possible into the container and pour in another batch of resin plaster!
