GOLDEN MSA Varnish is an archival varnish that forms a tough, protective finish for your artworks. It is suitable for use on acrylic, oil, and alkyd pieces. Once dry, the varnish coating will protect your work from dirt and surface damage, and the UVLS provide increased resistance to UV radiation and sun damage.

GOLDEN MSA Varnish dries to a reflective, high gloss finish on your artworks. It’s a self-levelling medium suitable for both indoor and outdoor use. Use it to coat artworks and smooth surfaces such as glass, plastic, or metals. This varnish is a mineral-based acrylic resin, making it less permeable than varnishes made from waterborne acrylics. It is removable by mineral spirits after drying if required.

Before using GOLDEN MSA Varnish first thin it with a solvent. Do not use low odour or odourless mineral or white spirits for this thinning process, and it is recommended you test mixing with a small amount of varnish before combining the amount required for your artwork. If compatible, your varnish will maintain excellent clarity and easily mix. If incompatible, your varnish may thicken, become cloudy or milky, or gelatinous, threadlike structures may appear in the mixture. Stir thoroughly before use.

Once mixed with a compatible solvent, GOLDEN MSA Varnish can be applied with a brush or as a spray over your artwork. For brush applications, thinning at a ratio of 3 parts varnish to 1 part solvent to start and adjusting as required. For spray applications, thin at a ratio of 2:1 or 1:1 depending on your spray equipment. GOLDEN MSA Varnish will typically be touch dry and suitable for recoating after 3-6 hours. Most full curing will occur within two weeks.
