All pen cases are made from 97% recycled plastic. The sustainable ink pens from the pigment arts pen range include an innovative and outstanding new ink, the so-called Multi Ink, which sets new standards in terms of colour brilliance and lightfastness and can be used on a wide range of surfaces.
What exactly is Multi Ink?
STAEDTLER has revolutionised the ink world and have developed an ink that combines the advantages of several ink systems. Multi Ink is based on premium pigments, which means that even after years of UV exposure, it still achieves extreme lightfastness and exceptional colour brilliance.

No bleeding through or bleeding of ink
The Multi Ink does not bleed through the paper. This applies even to thin paper types, making the pigment arts pens perfect for projects where the back of the paper is also used, such as bullet journalling or sketchbooks.

Permanent, waterproof and quick drying
Thanks to the permanent and waterproof Multi Ink, water droplets can't harm the illustrations, so even combinations with watercolours are possible. The ink also impresses with fast drying on many surfaces. Multi Ink is also smudge-proof on most surfaces.

Can be used on many surfaces
Multi Ink can be used on almost all surface types such as artist papers, (e.g. watercolour paper, layout paper, marker paper) canvas, photo paper, cardboard, wood and more. In addition, the ink impresses with colour fidelity on a wide range of materials, making it the perfect choice for mixed media applications.
Creative Possibilities with Multi Ink
Intensify colours by layeringColours can be intensified by painting over several times. This can increase colour saturation and density and create colour gradients. |
Mix new coloursInteresting new shades can be created by layering two or more different colours. |
Create colour gradientsIt is possible to create colour gradients with one or more colours while the ink is still wet on the paper. Use one lighter and one darker colour next to each other and then move the lighter colour over where you want the colours to blend. |
Tip-to-tip blendingThis technique is suitable for small areas where there is not enough space to create a gradient or colour mix with other techniques. Use a light colour as a brush and carefully add a slightly darker colour to the tip. |
Create smudge-free outlines and contoursEasily achieve wipe-free contours once the ink has dried, the outlines can be painted over. This feature offers a wide range of possibilities. For example, first draw contours and objects with the pigment arts pens and then add a little background colour with watercolours. |
